My previous external HD was bulky and noisy, and didn't last long. This product is compact, rugged, quiet, and extremely easy to use: has numerous ways to connect (I'm using firewire 800). I would buy it again for sure.

Good feature for a drive carried around with a portable, but not so much for a desktop since it uses up an extra port. Wasn't spelled out in the product description.
The drive will run on three different ports and it is really, really nice to see all the cables you could ever need in the box.

I love them. This is the second LaCie Rugged I've purchased and I also have a LaCie Little Big Disk which I love.
