Reviews & Ratings for 320GB Momentus 7200.3 SATA II Internal Hard Drive I bought this drive to replace the stock 5400RPM HD from my 1st generation Macbook Pro. After going through the nerve wracking replacement process (there's no easy way to replace the HD in these MBPs) the result was well worth the investment.
Overall there's a marked improvement in performance on the laptop. You can really notice the shorter boot and application load times. File copies and now faster and I can stream videos in HD with no video stuttering whatsover. And of course the increase in space is most welcome.
The only con that I'm aware off thus far is that the drive seems to be a bit louder than the original when in a quiet environment. It's not like listening to an airplane takeoff but it is noticeable at times. Other than that I have no complains with this drive.
I decided to buy this drive by reading the reviews in Tom's Hardware.

Reviews & Ratings for 320GB Momentus 7200.3 SATA II Internal Hard Drive I recently got a laptop from a friend with a dead hard drive and I decided that I wanted to make it a mobile library for anything I wanted.
I looked for the fastest and biggest hard drive I could find and this one fit the bill. Compared to the Western Digital, I noticed the warranty and also better power ratings. I wanted to maximize the life of my laptop on battery since I am currently a college student and take it with me to classes where I can't use power outlets.
Compared to my old laptop's 5400rpm IDE hard drive, I realized a huge jump in performance. I remember when starting Windows was the longest process but now, I have to wait on my BIOS!
I would recommend this to anyone who wants speed and performance for a reasonable price.
