It accesses very fast but the best was the computer I put it into..Mac Pro..brand spankin'...and ya just put it in there..format to Mac and away ya go...Really could not be simpler...

The 1.5 TB model plugs into the disk carrier like its predecessor and takes just one step using disk utilities to give it a name and be off and running. What a difference a year makes. The 750 Gig model was $219. This drive, which is twice as big and has all other features of the earlier one, was only $119.

The drive worked just fine, but Seagate tech support and seatools are there if you need them. I've had one dud drive in the past, and PC connection made it super easy to exchange it and get back to work.

When I first started buying 750gb Seagates (when they first came out) I had a lot of trouble with them. It appears they've ironed out whatever problems they had with that initial run of vertical storage drives, and haven't had any problems with 1tb and now 1.5tb drives. Knock wood!

Reviews & Ratings for 1.5TB Barracuda 7200.11 SATA 3Gb/s NCQ Internal Hard Drive - 32MB Cache I could not choose between "yes" and "no", “maybe” or “maybe not” is more precise if that option has been included on review form, I bought 6 of those 1.5 TB barracudas out of necessity because this drive is only one supported by NetGear line of NASes - NV pro to be precise. I suspect that the large capacity hard drives are more susceptible to hardware problems. It is too early for statistics but after a week of running my RAID storage it reported first reallocated sector, with 2% of storage usage out of my ~7TB doing some consistent reads ad writes on it. It is too early for any conclusions, not enough statistics yet. I hope it is just isolated incident. I expect reliability and protection from catastrophes, don’t like RMA claims especially in such sensitive area as data storage.

Easy to install and have had no problems so far. It's only been a month. I do plan on buying another hard drive. I didn't split this in two partitions so if that's your plan do your own homework.

Fortunately, my PC Connection drive was shipped with the latest and greatest firmware and works perfectly. Currently in a Mac Pro, but it is not Mac specific (of course). Hard to believe you can purchase 1.5TB in a single SATA drive.
