The Notebook came with 3D drive guard and the utility indicated that it was compatable with the G-Force feature of the hard drive. Both are designed to park the hard drive in case a abrupt motion is detected. Also the Vista hard drive performance measure with the new drive was 5.9 which is very high.

Reviews & Ratings for 250GB Momentus 7200.3 G-Force SATA II Internal Hard Drive I didn't expect much, but performance obviously increased with this drive. I assume part came from the increase to 7200 rpm from 5400 rpm and a lot from the higher transfer rate due to higher areal density (going from 120GB to 250GB). The drive is also whisper quiet and runs cool. I simply attached the drive with an external adapter, cloned the internal drive to it with Acronis True Image, and swapped in the drive. Very quick and easy transformation for my Lenovo 3000 N100.

Reviews & Ratings for 250GB Momentus 7200.3 G-Force SATA II Internal Hard Drive I replaced the factory Western Digital WD2500BEVS drive in my Dell Studio 17 with this drive mainly because I wanted the 7200RPM speed and the 16MB buffer for better performance.
This drive delivered what I expected. On this machine, the Windows Vista drive performance score went from 5.2 to 5.9, but since Vista's top mark is 5.9, it could be beyond that!
Vista loads about 30% faster it seems, and now I have the added protection of G-force protection to cover the data in the drive should I accidentally drop the laptop.
This is a bare OEM drive, so you will have to download any software from Seagate if you are cloning an existing drive, but that process was very simple.
Seagate's cloning software copied my existing laptop drive to this new drive in about 20 minutes (I only had about 100GB on the drive at the time).
Be sure to have an external USB enclosure/adapter handy if you want to clone the drive in this manner--It makes the job really easy.
