Bought this device because the new MacBooks only have one firewire 400 port on them and all my firewire hard drives are 800 ports. This little connector has made these hard drives usable again.

i recomend this for apple components that require fw400 i was able to use to capture video just fine. the object i recieved was magical. i used it to summon a pertal to ogrimmar where i quested and enjoyed hours of merriment and joy.

It couldn't be any simpler. When my new mac upgraded the firewire port from 400 to 800, I needed to chain my backup drives like I'd done in the past. Plug it in, plug them in... done. Downside: the shipping was more than the purchase price. I did receive it promptly but...

As I was very annoyed with Apple, when i bought my Mac Mini, to find out I could not plug in my iSight camera. They should have at least carried your product at there store. But sure enough, Sonnet came to the rescue & PC Connection made sure I would be able to connect, by delivering the 6-pin to 9-pin FireWire Adapter within 24 hours.

This works well, but it's long. When you combine its length with the length of the Firewire plug going into it, you probably have 4-5 inches sticking out of your computer. This means if the cord is pulled, there's a lot of leverage acting against your Firewire port. I'm worried about this. Other than that, it's good.
