However the set up instructions are so brief, and use illustrations instead of written words, it is hard to set up. I made 2 calls to Samsung customer service the 1st day for things which the setup manual should have mentioned, and 6 or 7 calls altogether to resolve various problems before the monitor was up and running. Some models come with a plastic cover that snaps on the back of the monitor to keep dust off the various cables. Other models do not, but the instructions do not mention this and I had to call Samsung to find this out before I could complete setting up the monitor. Also, the monitor controls are best operated using the included remote control device, not the "buttons" on the monitor. There is no mention of that in the setup instructions. I spent 30 minutes and another call to Samsung stumbling through a setup which would have taken only 5 minutes using the remote. The monitor has a tilt function, but no height function. I have to rest the monitor on a thich book to get it to the correct height to view. Samsung should add height adjustment functionality which allows the user to adjust the monitor height by up to 15 cm. The included software --- for setting colors and for using multiple virtual monitors --- does not work. Color settings need to be set using the computer's graphic card (preferably NVDIA) software, not the Samsung monitor software. Samsung should not even ship the color setting software with the monitor. The virtual monitor software causes Windows Explorer to launch every time the computer boots up. This is a known Windows registry problem which Samsung software engineers need to address before shipping any more copies of the virtual monitor software. However, since I have only one computer, I have no real need for a virtual monitor. The large screen size allows me to launch multiple programs at once and view all of them. The digital television works fine, even in high definition mode. Users should be aware that they will need to obtain an HD cable box from their cable/satillite provider to view HD television programs on the monitor. A "cable card" slot on the monitor would help address this, but I assume one was excluded to keep costs down. Also, it would be nice if Samsung added functionality to view the digital television signal in a box on the screen while the monitor is in "computer" mode. Right now one can watch TV, or one can use the monitor to work with the computer, but not both. Despite these issues, I am glad I purchased the monitor. Once I finished stumbling through the setup and software issues, and got things the way I wanted them, it is a vast improvement over my old monitor.

We were so happy with the first one, we ordered two additional ones. The monitor/TV has an excellent picture at 1920x1200 pixel resolution and handling HDTV signals. It has a tuner, cable/RF input, VGA, DVI, and HDMI. We wish that it also had a RCA or S-video composite video input (for VCR/DVD players and video cameras that do not have RF modulators), but it is easy enough to find an RF modulator and run the signal in through the F-connector cable/antenna port. The built-in speakers are handy and adequate for computer use and handy, but one would want better sound delivery (more amplification, better bass) for serious music listening.

As a monitor it works fine because you sit directly in front of it. The colors shift with even small angular deviations. I would not suggest this for color critical work. That said, I was able to tune the picture to be fairly accurate. I used the DVD essentials Blu-Ray disk with a PS-3 connected via HDMI. This results in a very good TV/movie picture but not so much a computer monitor. The set has several modes you can program and I have not had the time to set a different one up specifically for the computer yet. The system does support this but you have to be willing to invest the time to set it up to get the best out of it.
Inputs are an area where this unit excels. 2 HDMI, component, Cable, DVI, PC plus analog Sound in and Digital and analog sound out. This is hard to find on units costing considerably more.

When you're limited by a video card that only allows one monitor, the only way to compensate is to go with a large screen. The 24" form factor is perfect because you can have two readable, full-size sheets open on your desktop simultaneously. In short, this monitor looks great, renders small text in spreadsheets and documents clearly, gives me the ability to blow up very small text to readable size and still have a whole page on the screen (think PDF spreadsheets or schematics), and has a great picture. It's installed in a corporate environment, so I can't watch streaming video. However, I do have an antenna that allows me to take advantage of terrestrial HD broadcasts on the weekends - the picture is great. Beware of jealous co-workers . . . they typically ask if I'm twice as efficient since my screen is about twice the size (clever, eh?). The real answer? Because I have to spend less time changing windows and scrolling, I'm probably about 5% more efficient, which gets me out of the office about 30 minutes early every day - plus I have happy eyes. It's definitely worth it.

The screen starts out looking big, but after a day or two it seems to be just the right size. If you watch TV in anything but HD, you'll get the same picture most LCD TVs offer, which is not that great, but not terrible either. HD, is amazing and I have no issues with it.
I most like the clicking of the source button that allows me to quickly flip back and forth between the TV and the computer. Something that I had not thought about is I like to use a wireless headset. When I have it on, I can work on the computer during commercials and then when I hear the show come back on, I simply click the source button. It works for me.
I can't really rate gaming on it because my machine is so old and my video card just doesn't have the juice needed to run this at it's full potential. UT2004 does look good and the size of the monitor feels like it is bringing you into the game.
