The 8 megapixels are great and I am excited to enlarge our photographs with much greater clarity and detail. Turning on the camera is a snap and it is ready to take photos within a second of turning it on. Photos are crisp and clear and the camera's view screen turns the image depending on how you are holding the camera. Autofocus is a snap and boxes appear on the view screen showing where the camera is focusing. After you have taken a shot, you can review the photo and edit it on the camera. Resizing, red-eye, color saturation, etc. are all available on the view screen. I have read reviews that say the camera does not have a dedicated way to go from still photos to taking video, but there is a way to set up a "speed" button to do just that as well as pick from a variety of options (flash off, red-eye function off, etc.) I have mine set to video so I need to simply press the button while in still mode and the camera jumps right to recording in video mode. Video playback is smooth and you can hear sound with the built in speaker. Battery life is good and the nice thing is there is a bar in the view screen that lets you know how much is left. There is a separate flash available for this model and it is nice to know you can purchase an upgrade if you need something more powerful than just the camera's battery.
