The PIXMA MP480 can print or copy up to 20 ppm in black and up to 16 ppm in color, and a 4" x 6" borderless print takes about 45 seconds. The USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface enables the fastest image transfers and scanning speeds possible today. Plus, with direct photo printing, just connect to any PictBridge compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, and print. It's optional Bluetooth port allows for wireless conectivity, and you can even download images directly off of CompactFlash, Micro Drive, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, SD and MultiMedia Cards among others. Plus, select the images on its 1.8" LCD color viewer.
The MP480's precision ink nozzles ejects precise and consistent droplets as small as 2 picoliters. With that, you get outstanding resolutions up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi and clear, detailed images. When scanning photos, you'll produce brilliant 2400 x 4800 dpi scans with intense 48-bit color depth.
Thge MP480's copying technology is top-notch. Dual Color Gamut Technology ensures quality is automatically optimized based on the type of originals you are copying. It can reduce multi-copy from 1 to 99 pages.

It's a printer, multifunction cardreader, scanner, standalone copier, direct-from-camera printer (with LCD preview). Even more amazing is the compact design; it's got no more footprint than a traditional scanner and no more height than a traditional printer. You'd never even know there was a scanner there just looking from the outside.
There are probably better photo printers and better scanners, and it's not super-fast in any function. But this machine produces quite good output for its price. I'm sure the ink carts will run out fast, like all photo printers, but that's just a cost you bear for printing quality photos at home.
Fully MacOS 10.5 and Windows compatible (important for my household).
