Reviews & Ratings for 1TB Lacie Big Disk Extreme Plus I've used a bunch of LaCie drives for work stuff -- even some critical storage needs. They've never let me down. I bought this Big Disk Extreme to back-up my personal machine at home (which doubles for some freelance work). Within 30 seconds of having it out of the box, it was cabled up and I was copying stuff to it. I haven't installed the supplied backup software yet (not really concerned about it). My only disappointment with the Big Disk is the "big" part -- it's pretty large. But I figure that size aids cooling -- both with the excellent built-in fan, but even just with air space inside. A great, easy to use drive from a company with a track record of highly-reliable drives.

Reviews & Ratings for 1TB Lacie Big Disk Extreme Plus I bought this hard drive last month when I upgraded to a MacBook Pro 17" computer with the Leopard OS and Time Machine automatic backup. The setup was ridiculously easy, just plug in the power cord and whichever cord you choose to use, USB, Firewire 400 or 800, and you're up and running. I use Firewire 800 and it's very fast. The only problem I had was that the drive seems to be delicate with power supplies. A couple of the plugs in my power strips apparently supplied slightly less power than necessary and although the drive was obviously running, it didn't appear on the desktop as an icon and wasn't accessible by the computer. I called LaCie tech assistance and was told that if the power wasn't quite sufficient the icon wouldn't appear. Sure enough when I plugged it into another outlet it worked just fine.

Reviews & Ratings for 1TB Lacie Big Disk Extreme Plus I've been a long time user (and fan) of LaCie hard drives. As a video editor and encoder for online video, I use a lot of disk drives, and I've never had a failure with a LaCie hard drive. I particularly like the 1TB Lacie Big Disk Extreme Plus. It's faster because it's a RAID 0 drive and Firewire 800. It's higher capacity works well for large projects. And to top it off, you can't beat the price/performance combination of this drive. It takes next to nothing to add a new drive to my Mac system.

It has a small foot print and I love the auto-off feature when you shut down your computer. I gave 3 stars for ease of use because the set-up on a PC was troublesome. In all reality I don't think this was a function of the drive as much as it was with the Windows operating system. Shame on me for not using a Mac...

Reviews & Ratings for 1TB Lacie Big Disk Extreme Plus Excellent drive. Lot's of storage space. I am using it to back up data from my Mac Book Pro and it is very fast and flexable. Set up was very easy. I bought it two months ago when it was still priced at $319.00 and I consider it a great value at that price. I recomended it to my wife and she is purchasing one at the new low price. Fantastic value.
