Every Mac comes with 90 days of telephone support and one year of service coverage at an Apple-authorized repair center. By purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan with your Mac, you can extend your coverage to three years.
The AppleCare Protection Plan covers your Mac, as well as an AirPort Extreme Card, an AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme Base Station, and Apple RAM purchased for your Mac.

The AppleCare Protection Plan provides support for Apple hardware, the Mac OS, and Apple consumer applications, including iLife, iWork, Jam Packs, iChat AV, Mail, Safari, iCal, iSync, AppleWorks, and QuickTime. We have an iMac and a Macbook Pro and I've already had to bring in the MacBooks Pro charger because it was faulty and they replaced in on the spot - those chargers cost $90!
Thankfully, we've had no other problems but I appreciate knowing my stuff will be covered for 3 years!

I was surprised I had to register. The website to register was not intuitive and I had to reenter data multiple times. it then failed to recognize that my purchase was qualified and made me send in multiple documents that I had to scan and submit. Finally sent me an e-mail saying my purchase was qualified and would mail me the docs. They sent the docs to an address I have not lived at for over 3 years. I have ordered multiple items from this website in the last couple of years so I no idea why the docs were sent to that address. I certainly did not give it to them. I have never had to go to this much trouble to for an extended warranty I have already purchased. Still waiting to see if I get the docs. Hope if I need service it works better than this.

Service and delivery was very quick and professional. However, be warned that you might get a rejection during the registration of your product for AppleCare. MacConnection was helpful in getting me to the proper way to notify the AppleCare folks, and I received a coverage certificate after a couple of weeks.

If you are even a few days over the end of your warranty period this can be extremely costly. The AppleCare protection can save you considerable heart ache, head ache and expense because if you have this insurance any problems (other than abuse) will be covered and fixed rapidly by Apple.
