Reviews & Ratings for iMac 20''/2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB RAM/320GB/SuperDrive/HD2600 Pro Purchasing my mac through mac connection was painless. I have ordered products from MacConnection in the past and they deliver what they promise when promised. I highly recommend. and yes they are cheaper than the apple stores in malls

Good computer but problems.

Pros: classy and fast, os 10.5 is promising Cons: won't run classic, marginal keyboard, needs matte diplay
Reviews & Ratings for iMac 20''/2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB RAM/320GB/SuperDrive/HD2600 Pro I would like to say that this is the best computer I ever used, but I can't. Part of the problem is the OS 10.5 software, part the actual design. I have a strong sense of buyer's regret at giving up my last generation 20" iMac in favor of the new and slightly faster model. The first problem with the new model is the keyboard. While flat and unobtrusive, the chicklet sized keys make for a marginal typing experience. Typos are frequent because if the fingers brush an adjacent key, who knows what will appear. Unless you press smartly on the key, nothing registers. I miss the old keyboard. The glossy display is brighter that the older matte one but is far more directional and shows reflections in a bright room. Move your head up or down and you lose contrast. The appearance of the new computer is classy but looks aren't everything. Now for the real problem. OS 10.5 offers a number of new features but sacrifices the ability to run Classic programs. Many fully functional older programs are no longer supported. This is a major problem with image processing and scanning software. Apple suggested that I run OS 10.4 as a way to solve these problems but they no longer sell copies of OS 10.4 for Intel machines. The best they could suggest was eBay. I suppose this problem will disappear after my very expensive slide scanner wears out and I only take digital photos. Speaking of photos, iPhoto 7.3 is an improvement on iPhoto 6 but iMovie '08 (7.1.4) is a disaster. Fortunately you can still use iMovie 6. Airport with the new machine is spotty but was rock solid with the older version. I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem. My problems may be peculiar to me and not applicable to the general population. I have been using Macs since 1984 and have gained a familiarity with much of the older software. Most of the older programs do exactly what they are supposed to do without bells and whistles. Like a vinyl record collector in an era of CDs and MP3, I long for the simplicity of a simple turntable. What I hope is that some enterprising software firm will make an emulator that will run all the old software running back a quarter of a century. If brain damaged Vista can be made to run on the iMac, why not Write Now or Mac Basic? In summary, it is a good computer, perhaps the best for someone starting in the Mac world afresh, but only a marginal improvement on the older Intel iMacs.

Pros: way too many to name, work is fun!, play is fun!, goofing around with sim city is awesome! Cons: soooo totally 'addicting'
Reviews & Ratings for iMac 20''/2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/2GB RAM/320GB/SuperDrive/HD2600 Pro And proudly a Mac at that. I bought a Mac Plus back in 1988 for post-grad work. It died in 1998 with one great last gasp. Since I was in IT support / training / tech writing in a PC-driven world, I bought a PC and installed all the Windows releases and most of the Office releases. I supported. I trained. I wrote tech documentation (on a friend's Mac, but who knew?). Then I retired, more or less, this spring and bought the new iMac 2.66GHz. All the joy of 20 years ago came rushing back. I was ACTIVELY working, in iWork '08 35 minutes after taking my iMac out of the box. Hey, you out there. Yeah, you. Buy one! Seriously. No fear. And if you want Windows XP or Vista? Apple Boot Camp does it so well. (Apple does most EVERYTHING so well). Or try Fusion or Parallels to run OS X and XP or Vista at the same time. I can be a pc. But I am smokin' on my iMac.
