ScanSnap S510 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner
In one step, the ScanSnap S510 scanner digitizes both sides of a document in a single pass, in color, and at an amazing speed of up to 18 pages per minute. With a touch of the button, the ScanSnap S510 scanner enhances the user experience with a host of automatic features, including auto paper size detection, auto de-skew and auto blank page removal. The included ScanSnap Organizer automatically converts scanned data into searchable PDF files, while the ScanSnap S510’s image enhancement technology increases character recognition for more precise OCR accuracy. The bundled ABBYY FineReader software enables the user to scan documents directly to applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software. Scan business cards directly to your contacts database with the included CardMinder application. CardMinder captures information written in 8 languages from scanned business cards images and stores this information in an easily accessible format.
The new Quick Menu provides dynamic control over the destination of scanned documents. If attaching scans directly to an email, the user can quickly change the file name and protect it with a password for added security. The ScanSnap S510 scanner easily installs via its USB 2.0 interface and its small footprint requires less space than a letter size piece of paper.

The bundled software makes scanning a, well, a snap! Unless you need flatbed capability to scan bound pages, this is the way to go. Very good speed too, appropriate for the price.

My goal for my small office is to become paperless and this scanner is indispensable in this process. I scan everything and keep very little paper. The scanner was easy to install and use. It has a tiny footprint on my desktop and I love the features that allow you to scan to a pdf file, email, WORD or Excel. I can scan single or few pages and have scanned as much as a 56 page document with no problems.

I purchased it so I could easily scan some old documents that had been cluttering my four drawer file cabinet at home. I have already cleared out one drawer and sent the contents to the shredder, confident that my documents are now stored electronically both locally on my hard drive, but also on DVD in my safe deposit box. There is no way I could ever have enough safe deposit box to store all these documents in paper form! I highly recommend this scanner.

I can take notes on paper (much faster and more versatile than typing), and quickly scan and file those notes in a way that makes retrieval very simple and efficient. I can think of numerous applicaitons, but even for just this one, it's well worth the money.

We use them very heavily through out the day and they preform exceptionally well. We also purchased the carry case so we could use one of the units outside of the office. A really super part of the purchase was getting Adobe Acrobat 8.0 standard with the unit. From there you can upgrade to Acrobat Pro at a real savings. This unit is "Best in Class".

I cannot think of any product that i have purchased that would meet the level of performance that these little devices have set. I had a lot of other people who purchased scanners at the same time. All of them paid more and most had trouble with the product they purchased. The only problem -if you can call it a problem- is the ltd on the sheet feeder. I have never needed any other
