Plus, the Cheetah 10K.7 uses Enhanced Error Correction Code for decreasing bit error rate and better maintaining performance throughout the life of the drive resulting in a lower probability of lost data. Its Background Media Scan, a Seagate-exclusive feature, scans the media during drive idle time to preserve system bandwidth while enabling incipient errors to be corrected before data is lost.
