This tape drive is based on Sony’s Advanced Intelligent Tape (AIT) technology. The AIT-E format is significantly more reliable than the similarly priced DDS-3 technology. This product delivers both 20GB of native capacity and a 6MB/s native transfer rate.

Up until now AIT has been perceived as too expensive for entry level tape back-up. With the launch of AIT-E, AIT becomes the ideal tape back-up for the new generation of entry level servers.
