The ComplianceVault06 Email Archiving & Retrieval Appliance has two data storage subsystems. The “compliance volume” (tape subsystem) is a Sony tape library. It is rewriteable magnetic disk storage used for quick search and display of messages, as well as access to email attachments. (Only one copy of each attachment is stored.)
At the top of Sony's 81-series automated tape library line is the Sony LIB-81/A3. Still only 1U high, this model houses one AIT-3 tape drive to offer a whopping 2.08 TB of data storage capacity. Data transfer speed is also increased, clocking in at a blazing 86.4 GB/hour.
