Cisco's CSS 11051 includes: (8) RJ-45 ports for 100BaseTX Fast Ethernet; 128MB memory, Cisco's Web NS software, and an AC power supply.

CSS 11050 Content Services Switches provide high-speed Web content delivery by selecting optimal sites and servers on the basis of comprehensive information regarding URLs, cookies, and resource availability. The CSS 11050 Content Policy Engine consists of a high-speed RISC processor, 128MB of memory, and 5Gbps switched bandwith. It delivers per-flow prioritization based on hundreds of user-defined policies. Distributed flow-forwarding engines feature per-port programmable network processors for wire-speed delivery of Web content.

The platform supports all TCP- and UDP-based Web protocols, wire-speed NAT, and integrated IP routing, while augmenting Web cache efficiency up to 400% for transparent, proxy and reverse proxy configurations. Requests for and delivery of content are optimized for HTTP, passive FTP, and streaming media protocols. The CSS 11050 also enables advanced Service Level Agreements and a variety of modern fee-based services, while providing site-level security with wire-speed DoS prevention. Firewall load-balancing enables scalable security for back-end databases and applications.
