The JetStream 4000 has 8 RS232 serial ports providing up to 230 Kbps connection speed per port, plus a parallel printer port. The unit comes in a slim attractive enclosure suitable for table top or rack shelf mounting. Other Perle Serial Servers can be used to increase the number of serial or LAN ports, or to provide Wide Area Network connectivity.
For terminal server applications telnet and rlogin are supported. TruePort gives transparent access from applications to hundreds of JetStream 4000 serial ports scattered across the network, so applications don't have to be network-aware.
A comprehensive suite of security features is included for Remote Access Server (RAS) applications. SLIP and PPP Remote User dial-in is supported, and dial-out facilities enable access to modems or printers.
Independent tests have proved JetStream 4000 extremely easy to configure and install.
A comprehensive array of software tools allow the JetStream 4000 to be configured, managed and upgraded either locally, remotely over the network, or even via the Internet.
These tools include JETset, for complete port management from any location via a Web browser, and easy downloads of software upgrades to the unit’s flash memory. Command line and menu interfaces are included, as is a separate local management port, plus industry standard control and management facilities – SNMP, BOOTP, DHCP, and DNS.
