The most cost-effective product for mixed serial and LAN environments, the LanStream 2000 provides a highly efficient way of connecting synchronous serial devices such as thin clients, terminals, printers, EPOS tills, measuring equipment and modems to TCP/IP Ethernet LANs, while simultaneously connecting PCs, NCs, workstations and servers via its integral 10 BaseT ports.

Two models are available, with either 16 serial ports plus 8 hub ports, or 8 serial ports plus 16 hub ports. Both come in a slim attractive enclosure which can be easily rack mounted. Other Perle Serial server products can be used to increase the number of serial or hub ports, or provide Wide Area Network connectivity.

For Terminal Server applications telnet and rlogin support is provided. TruePort gives transparent access from applications to hundreds of LanStream 2000 serial ports scattered across the network, so applications don’t have to be network-aware.

A comprehensive suite of security features is included for Remote Access Server (RAS) applications. SLIP or PPP Remote User dial-in is supported, and dial-out facilities enable access to modems or printers.

Independent tests have proved LanStream 2000 extremely easy to configure and install. A comprehensive array of software tools allows the LanStream 2000 to be configured, managed and upgraded either locally or remotely over the network or even via the Internet.

These tools include JETset for complete port management from any location via a Web browser; and easy downloads of software upgrades to the unit’s flash memory. Command line and menu interfaces are included, as is a separate local management port, plus industry standard control and management facilities – SNMP, BOOTP, DHCP and DNS.

This LanStream 2000 features the 16 RS232 RJ45 ports with enhanced ESD protection plus 8 10BaseT Hub Ports.
