An intelligent standalone Fast Ethernet Switch with eight auto-MDIX 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX ports and one 100BASE-FX MMF port, the SMC6709FL2 can connect to a distant backbone up to two kilometers away via its 100BASE-FX MMF/SC port. Its aggregated bandwidth of up to 2.0 Gbps and non-blocking switching architecture make it perfect for in-demand multimedia applications.

The advanced feature set of the SMC6709FL2 TigerSwitch includes IEEE802.1Q VLAN, GVRP and priority queuing to ensure smooth delivery of mission-critical data and security for different multicast groups. Fan-free and compact in size, the new TigerSwitch also has low heat emission, making installation and placement extremely flexible, it serves the network equally well from a wiring closet, on the teacher’s desk in the classroom or inside a home or apartment building’s fuse box.

With all the management features found on 24-port switches, but not their clumsy size or port density, the SMC6709FL2 is well-suited to today’s diverse applications that move voice, image and data, and the SMC6709FL2 is secure, too, with features that include static addressing and the filtering and blocking of packets to identified MAC addresses.
