The transmit and receive signals are crossed to ensure proper data transmission over short distances (less than 100 feet). This cable is designed with a rugged, overmolded construction that provides added strain relief and a solid connection each time. Foil shielding offers protection from EMI/RFI interference caused by surrounding office equipment and fluorescent lights. With its female-to-female configuration, this cable is typically used to connect two PC serial ports.
