The ProCurve Switch 5400zl consists of the most advanced intelligent edge switch in the ProCurve Networking product line. The 5400zl series includes 6-slot chassis, 12-slot chassis, and associated zl modules and bundles. The foundation for all these switches is a purpose-built, programmable ProVision ASIC that allows the most demanding networking features, such as QoS and security, to be implemented in a scalable yet granular fashion. With a variety of Gigabit interfaces, integrated PoE on all 10/100/1000Base-T ports, and 10-GbE capability the 5400zl switches offer excellent investment protection, flexibility, and scalability, as well as ease of deployment, operation, and maintenance for any network environment.

The 5406 chassis supports a maximum of 16 10-GbE ports or 144 10/100/1000 ports and 96 mini-GBICs, or a combination thereof. The 5412 chassis supports a maximum of 32 10-GbE ports or 288 10/100/1000 ports and 192 mini-GBICs, or a combination thereof. This switch supports full IP routing as well as VLAN tagging for up to 2048 VLANs simultaneously. Ports can also be trunked for larger virtual bandwidth.

The 5400zl series comes with ProCurve Manager, a dynamic network management package with fast access to real-time information from an intuitive interface, and automated tools that take action when problems arise. ProCurve Manager and the upgrade, ProCurve Manager Plus give you the power to dynamically manage devices and traffic from a simple, top-down perspective. When coupled with Identity Driven Manager you can also manage user access in both a wired and wireless environment.
