The new Hotwire Multi-rate Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line (M/SDSL) products present a great combination of repeaterless single pair transmission system products provides faster and more economical service deployment of T1/E1 and Fractional T1/E1 (Nx64 Kbps) services.

The Hotwire M/SDSL products substantially reduce the cost, complexity and time required to provision Nx64 Kbps circuits and support longer loop distances than provided using other 2- or 4-wire technologies. Additionally, the Hotwire M/SDSL products provide significantly improved noise immunity as compared to the traditional method of provisioning service.

Hotwire M/SDSL systems can transport full (up to 2.048 Mbps) or Fractional T1/E1 payloads over a 2-wire full duplex circuit at varying operating distances based on the conditions of the 2-wire loop. For example, 128 Kbps can reach up to 8.9 km (29,000 ft.) using 0.5 mm (24 AWG) twisted-pair copper wire. In addition, Hotwire M/SDSL products tolerate bridged taps, making the pair selection and conditioning process faster and far less labor intensive.

In addition to cost savings, the Hotwire M/SDSL system offers superior loop reach performance based on wire gauge and line conditions. The table below provides representative operating distances based on the use of 0.5 mm (24 AWG) cable. The table also provides information demonstrating that the M/SDSL technology supports multiple installations within the same binder group while maintaining its extended operating distances.
