The 3Com Switch 5500-EI 52-Port is a premium stackable 10/100 switch that operates at full wirespeed on all ports, thus delivering improved access to networked resources. 48 ports operate at 10/100 speeds while an additional four active ports can be customized using SFP modules for copper or fiber Gigabit uplinks or integrated stacking. This model has dynamic Layer 3 (RIP) routing, Layer 2-4 QoS and rate limiting features. It includes extensive security features - SNMP v3, SSH, network login - and resilient hot-swap stacking for simplified management and monitoring.
This switch runs the 3Com Operating System common to 3Com premium switches and routers. It also has a simple-to-use embedded web interface for environments wanting a simplified management interface. For non-stop networking operation, this switch allows resilient and hot swappable stacking, resilient network via Rapid Spanning Tree and LACP and redundant power supply support using a standard DC RPS. There's no need to worry about cabling infrastructure - the switch auto sense the cable connection type of each port. This Enhanced Image model features distributed link aggregation, distributed resilient routing, advanced Layer 3 features and Advanced Time-Based ACLs.

Power Notes

The Switch 5500 has a built-in DC power stage for direct connection to -48V supply. It supports 3 modes for total flexibility: AC; AC and DC and DC only. There is instantaneous fail-over from either AC or DC. Also, there is the additional benefit that supplemental power can be injected into the DC input for high-power PoE devices up to 15.4W per port.
