CiscoWorks SIMS 3.4 collects and analyzes security events from Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), firewalls, operating systems, applications, and anti-virus system (AVS) devices. This information is correlated statistically, evaluated according to defined security rules, and presented in real time by priority to administrators in an actionable format.

CiscoWorks SIMS uses automation, intelligence, and simplification to increase productivity and reduce total cost of ownership while also increasing the security on the network. CiscoWorks SIMS 3.1 adds multi-vendor capabilities to Cisco integrated network security solutions. Its award-winning features are based on netForensic's technologies.

CiscoWorks SIMS 3.4 also provides add-on licensing options that offer additional security of the network. The Cisco Security Agent (CSA) licenses allow the customer to analyze events from the CSA Agents monitoring key security devices in the customer network. The low-tier device licenses can monitor low-tier event sources such as Cisco PIX 501/506, Catalyst 3000 family, Router 8xx-2600, Concentrator 3000 to 3030, Windows NT/2000 servers, Solaris, Linux, UNIX, AS/400, and Tripwire.
