    This product includes support for OSPF (open shortest path first), PIM-SM (Sparse mode PIM), and DVMRP (Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol).

    IP multicast is a one-to-many communication technique employed by applications such as video distribution, news feeds, conferencing, net casting, and resource discovery (OSPF, RIPv2, BootP). Unlike unicast, which sends one packet per destination, multicast sends one packet to all devices in any subnetwork that has at least one device requesting the multicast traffic.
