The 3Com OfficeConnect Gigabit Switch 5 is designed for small or remote branch offices that need to run bandwidth-intensive video or multimedia applications, and connect to high-speed servers or a high-speed network backbone. As part of the 3Com Green initiative, this switch is designed to use 65nm technology and advanced idle power-down mode, saving 38% on power consumption on average. This OfficeConnect switch also has a minimized carbon footprint, due to it having one of the smallest form factors in the industry.

The Gigabit Switch 5 is ideal for upgrading hubs or switches when adding a gigabit workstation or laptop to an existing network: the switch provides gigabit speeds to these newer devices, while servicing existing connections at their current speeds. This unit is powerful, reliable and simple to install and operate. Plug-and-play convenience means it works right out of the box with no configuration or management required. Each of the five non-blocking, autosensing 10/100/1000 ports automatically adjusts to the speed of network devices.

IEEE 802.1p traffic prioritization and auto MDI/MDIX on every port make this an economical switch with real networking value. And it is backed by a three year hardware warranty, with next business day advanced hardware replacement.
