Cisco BBSM Upgrade from 5.2/5.2A to 5.3 - BB-SM-5.3-UPG
Cisco BBSM works with Cisco access-layer LAN and WLAN products to provide a complete solution that enables businesses, venues and service providers to create, market and operate broadband access services in markets such as public hotspots, enterprise, healthcare, retail and hospitality. The Enterprise can securely offer their guest's access to the Internet over existing networks. Public hotspots and other venues with high visitor turn over can offer Internet services to customers or visitors for a fee or as a free amenity.
Cisco BBSM enables user access regardless of their network interface configurations. Computer users can connect to the network using devices configured for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or static IP addresses, as well as static proxy settings or DNS entries. This plug-and-play capability enables access for the widest variety of users and laptop configurations without requiring costly IT support.
Cisco BBSM offers integrated features that allow effective managing and monitoring of small, medium or large BBSM deployments. With its standards based management feature sets, Cisco BBSM integrates into existing enterprise architectures and monitoring methods.
BBSM Hotspot supports all VPN clients and provides the additional benefit of conserving costly public IP addresses for only those VPN clients that require them. This is accomplished with the BBSM Hotspot multi-net functionality that supports private and public IP addressing schemes on the same network.
The BBSM Hotspot is SSL (Secure Socket Layer) compliant. SSL increases security to the Internet by encrypting private information such as credit card data and passwords. BBSM Hotspot has 1 user privilege level (administrator); additional security measures are deployed with Cisco networking device (router/switch/access point) configurations, settings, and by adding firewalls.
Additional Security: Besides anti-virus and firewall protection, additional security measures are available with Cisco networking devices such as routers, switches, and access point configurations and settings.
