WebView Livescope 3.10 is a system that enables webcasting live images taken by a remote video camera, via the Internet or an intranet. The WebView Livescope Pro package consists of two basic components: a camera server software application and a viewer application. Version 3.10 employs Canon's VC-C4 and VC-C4R communication cameras, allowing a wider range of view and the ability to connect up to four cameras to a camera server.

The camera server software not only transmits images, but also receives camera control requests from the image receiver, and can actually change the camera angle as requested. The camera server consists of the image server, which transmits images over a network, and the camera control server, which controls the camera according to requests from clients. By using the image server, the camera control server and a viewer which communicates over a network, the client can remotely control a camera connected to the camera server and view the images captured at that time. Version 3.10 uses the HTTP protocol in addition to its own proprietary protocol, so it is now possible to view images webcasted by WebView even from company LANs in which firewalls have been installed.

In order to use a web browser to view live images sent from a camera server, special viewer software is required. Two types of viewer software are provided with WebView Livescope Version 3.0: a Java version viewer and a Helper version viewer for Windows. With a Web browser that runs Java, you can view the WebView Livescope images without having to rely on a platform. It consists of two types, the Live Applet viewer with image display and camera control features, and the Glimpse viewer with only the image display feature. The Helper version is equipped with image display and camera control features, and is displayed in a separate window from the Web browser at start-up time.
