The Nikon Coolscan V ED features 4000dpi true optical-resolution scanning, a 16-bit A/D converter with 16-/8-bit output for clear, colorful images, an exclusive Scanner Nikkor ED high-performance lens for reduced color aberration and minimized image distortion, a newly-developed, high-quality 2-line CCD sensor, and proprietary LED illumination technology to ensure consistently accurate color reproduction. Your film scans will be fast at approximately 11 seconds for a preview and 20 seconds for a completed scan, including image trasfer to display. In addition, autofocusing speed has also been cut to a mere 4 seconds.

Nikon View Software simplifies viewing and archiving of your scanned images. Driver software Nikon Scan 4 features an intuitive GUI (Graphical User Interface) that enables easy, comprehensive scanner control. Multi-sample scanning capability allows up to 16 passes for faithful reproduction and smoother gradation. You can load your 35mm and IX240 film directly for enhanced ease of use. This scanner uses a plug-and-play high-speed USB 2.0 connection for fast, easy image transfer.

This scanner uses Digital ICE4 Advanced automatic correction functions including: Image Correction and Enhancement to remove dust, scratches and fingerprints from scanned images; Reconstruction of Color to recreate and restore faded color values; Grain Equalization and Management for sharp, clear images with no clumping or graininess; and Dynamic Exposure Extender to help reveal details lost in shadows and highlights.
