This service bolsters in-house resources with convenient and speedy access to 3Com hardware replacements, software upgrades and telephone support. Telephone support service is available during normal business hours, 8 hours per day Monday through Friday and hardware replacement services adhere to a Next Business Day target response time.

    When a technical problem proves too tough for a service engineer to solve directly, 3Com's Technical Resources Escalation Plan swings into immediate action. Using a team approach, 3Com's escalation process deploys highly trained experts, remote diagnostic and a replication laboratory to address and solve the problem. At the outset, 3Com Global Services assigns the problem a severity level according to its potential for hindering network operations and disrupting the business. Then, a technical support product specialist works on isolating the fault, perhaps replacing it in the lab, and recommends a solution or workaround.

    If the problem needs further attention, a team of engineers drives the issue to closure. The team provides the mix of perspectives and strengths required to solve problems that involve multiple devices or technologies. To ensure accountability and continuity, a single technical support engineer follows the case from initiation to resolution.
