The low-cost, high-performance HP Workstation xw4200 combines revolutionary technologies from Intel and new graphics technology from leading graphics providers with HP's reliability, support, and 20+ years of workstation technical and graphical expertise. This convertible mini tower workstation is configured with a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading technology, a 1MB L2 cache, an 80GB 7200rpm Serial ATA hard drive and 2GB PC2-3200 DDR2 SDRAM (expandable to 4GB). In addition to the 800MHz frontside bus and Intel's 925X Express chipset, this workstation features a four channel SATA Controller with RAID 0 or 1, six open expansion slots and four open expansion bays. For communications, it has an Integrated Broadcom 5751 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet adapter. Audio output is provided by an integrated stereo AC'97 digital audio. An HP scroll mouse, standard keyboard and an nVIDIA Quadro FX 1300 PCI Express graphics controller with 128MB video memory are included.

2GB PC2-3200 DDR400 ECC SDRAM, expandable to 4GB.
There are four (4) DIMM slots.
It is not necessary to add memory in pairs. Memory upgrades are accomplished by adding single or multiple DIMMs of the same or varied sizes. The Intel 925X chipset supports ECC 533 MHz (PC2-4300) DDR-2 memory or non ECC and ECC 400 MHz (PC2-3200) DDR-2 memory. For best performance the total amount of memory loaded into Channel A and Channel B should be the same. If it is not, your computer will see all the RAM installed but will run the memory controller at a lower performance mode. For best performance, add the memory in pairs rather than as a single DIMM (two 512 MB DIMMs will have better performance than a single 1 GB DIMM).Also, add the memory into both channels (e.g. one in socket 1 and one in socket 3) to take advantage of dual channel performance. If you have unused slots within a channel, make them socket 2 and socket 4. This provides the best margin for the memory bus. Mixing ECC and non-ECC memory will mean that all memory will run as non-ECC.Mixing speeds will mean that the memory runs at the speed of the slowest DIMM.
